“And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.” [Acts 22:14]
“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” [John 15:16]
“Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.” [John 6:70-71]
“When Paul was stricken down a light blinded him, the same light, the same Pillar of Fire that led the children of Israel, said, "It's I, Jesus, Who stand before." But the men with him, they heard nothing, and they were right with him, soldiers with him, guards from the temple, going down. They never heard. It's just given to some people, to see and to hear things. Not all are prophets, not all are apostles, not all are this or that, but it's given. Those things are born in us by election. Gifts and callings are without repentance, how many Scripture readers know that, let's see? Gifts and callings, not what you want to be, it's what God makes you, see. You are because God has chosen you to be, not because you chose to be, God chose you. And if you're trying to make yourself something that God hasn't chose you to do, you're only a mimic, and it'll never be a success. You've got to be what God chose you to be.” [56-0419 Earnestly Contending For The Faith That Was Once Delivered Unto The Saints, Spindale NC]
“It's not him that wants to get saved, that's saved. It's him that's saved by God's choice. Esau wanted to get saved too. He wept bitterly, and couldn't find no place to repent. He wanted to get saved. It ain't 'cause you want to get saved. God said, "I've hardened who I will harden. I have mercy on whom I want to have mercy." That's right. He said, "Before Esau or Jacob, either was born, not knowing right and wrong," God said, "I love Jacob and hate Esau.'" And Esau tried to get right with God and couldn't. Pharaoh tried to get right with God and couldn't do it. So it's not you, not what you want. It's what God has ordained for you to do. That's right. Paul said in the 9th chapter of Romans there, "Hasn't the potter got power over the clay to make an honored vessel or a dishonored vessel, to show His glory to those who He has honored?" You didn't know that, did you? That's what the Scripture says. Pharaoh tried his best to repent. He was kindhearted. He said, "Sure, I'll let you go. Go on." God said, "No, you ain't. I'm going to harden his heart so you can't do it." 'Cause God's Word has to be fulfilled. And if we're living in this day when formalities and things has broken the church down, broke away; why, it's God's Word being fulfilled. As sure as God said, "These signs would follow them that believe," as sure as God said these churches would be like they are now, God also said this opposition would meet it. So the same God that ordained signs and wonders, ordained that these should be persecuting against It. So there you are. If you're on the other side, I feel sorry. And I want you not to be that way, but maybe you can't help it. See? God might've fixed it that way.” [54-1219M Divine Healing, Jeffersonville IN]
“The people today is something like Eliezer. There was many women in that city, and young girls for him to choose from, but he didn't take his own choice. He trusted God's choice. He took the one that had a supernatural sign, a answer to prayer, a submitted to the Lord. And today you want to find a place to put your money. Sometimes today you want to find a place to put your membership, some place that you want to go to church. And there's plenty of churches to go to. There's plenty of forms of religion to go to. But you've got to make a choice whether you're going to submit yourself to a spiritual church or a formal church. You've got to make your decision. You've got to take the way with the Church that Jesus ordained on the day of Pentecost, or you've got to take some of these man-made creeds that we worship today. You've got to make your choice. You might think it's a little despised, but it's reliable. If it wasn't, Christ wouldn't have ordained it. If it wasn't so, Paul wouldn't have received the Holy Ghost. All the Apostles would not have received the Holy Ghost, because the--the God of salvation said, "Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. These signs shall follow them that believe."” [59-0418 A Time Of Decision, Los Angeles CA]
“But God called Abraham, not because he was good, but because God chose Abraham. Jesus said, "Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you." Jesus said, "No man can come to the Father, or come to Me accept My Father draws him first." Why are you out here tonight? Is because you're interested. Why ain't you at the ball game? Is because you love God more than you love ball games. That's the reason you're here. God called you and put a different desire in your heart. Now, the election of God--God calls man by sovereign election.” [55-0608 Abraham, Macon GA]
“There's a choosing, and we choose for ourselves. We choose something that's for our own good. But Moses chose the afflictions and the disgrace, that he might walk with the people of God. Think of it, now. Listen to it: "Chose the afflictions of the people of God and counted it a greater treasure, for he endured seeing Him Who was invisibly." Now Lot, one time, had to make a choice. And it may be this morning, that there'll be men and women setting here, that'll make your final choice. You are today what you are, because several years ago you chose to be what you are now. And what you choose now, will determine what you'll be five years from today. Five years from today you may be a missionary. Five years from today you may be a renown Christian. Or five years from today you may be in hell, because you made the wrong decision. Five years from today you may be cleaning spittoons in a barroom. Five years from today you may be a prostitute on the street. Or you may be a man or a woman, that's a--that's a credit to any society, because of your choice for Christ. Five years from today you may be in glory, gone in the rapture, because you made your choice today. But you've got to choose. And don't look at what you see; choose what you see by faith. That's the only thing that will count, is what you choose by faith.” [58-0720M By Faith Moses, Jeffersonville IN]
“Man has the keys, but God holds the keys actually. They give the disciples, the holy church, the keys; and watch the first time they used it, when Judas had felled by transgression. They got together and cast lots; and the holy brethren. Who would say they wasn't holy brethren? Who say they wasn't holy? But they cast lots, and it fell on Matthias. And when he... What did he ever do? Nothing. But Paul was the elected one! Amen. That was God's choosing: a little, hook-nosed, sarcastic, high-tempered Jew. Not the Matthias, the D.D., you know, he--he was... But Paul, God chose Paul; the church chose--chose Matthias. See? You have no right to tell God He's "wrong." He knows what to do, He knows what the man's made out of. Who would ever... That church ever chose Paul? Oh, no, never. Said, "That guy's the one that's putting us all in jail." But God said, "I'll show him what he'll suffer for Me." He know what. All right, no matter who we think is right, God knows who's best qualified because He knows the heart of man, He knows.” [65-1127B Trying To Do God A Service Without It Being God's Will, Shreveport LA]
“Now remember, only believers, only the elect comes into that, that God has chosen you. I believe that in Revelations 2 said, "He that overcometh." So it's promised to overcomers. You said, "I overcome smoking." That ain't what He's talking about. There's a whole lot more goes to Christianity besides not smoking cigarettes or drinking whiskey. "He that overcometh shall inherit all things, and he will be My son; I will be his God, and (listen) I will give him of the hidden manna. (Amen.) I will hide him away, and I will give him the hidden things the world on the outside of the curtain don't know nothing about it." Hallelujah! Though they eat manna, but they don't know about this. "I will give to him the hidden manna. I will give him a stone with his name in it." You get what I mean: entering into the adoption or the hidden place with God.” [55-1006A A Hidden Life, Chicago IL]
“Hallelujah! There you are. He knowed where he was standing. He was a man of faith. He believed God. God was in him. He knew he was anointed. And you know the same thing. If you have... You're Christians. And if God hadn't elected you to be a Christian, you would not be a Christian. It's God's choice, not yours. No man seeks God. No man seeks God at any time. You haven't sought God, but God has sought you. It wasn't you calling for God; it was God calling for you. And then when God called you, it showed He elected you. You accepted the call, it was justification. Then you gave your heart to Christ and was filled with the Holy Spirit. And now you're positionally placed in the body of Christ. Now, if it made you quit your old mean habits and act like a Christian ought to, if it'll do that for you, it'll heal your body, 'cause it's a promise. Amen. There you are.” [55-0118 This Great Warrior David, Chicago IL]
