“My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” [Psalm 42:2]
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;” [Psalm 63:1]
Now, He made man to thirst. Did you notice David here said, "My soul thirsteth for Thee (Oh, I love that.) as in a dry lands where there's no water." Just imagine. Said, "My soul is so thirsty, God. I'm thirsting for You just like I was in a land where there was no water." He must find water or perish. "My soul is thirsting for Thee." Now, God made a man with a thirst. That's a part of the human being, is his thirst. But God made the thirst in man to thirst for God. And the devil has perverted it, and make it thirst for his kingdom, for the world. Do you get it? The thirst in man is godly, for God made the man to thirst, thirst for God.” [Life, Jeffersonville, IN, 57-0602]
“Now, David said here, "My soul longs for You, like in a dry land where there's no water." Now, God created a man to have a thirst. Your makeup, you were made to thirst. God made you that way. You cannot help it because you thirst. God made you to do it. But God made you to thirst after Him. That thirst was put in you, not to go to the devil's places, not to thirst after Hollywood, or fashions of the world; but that thirst was given you to thirst after God.” [The Greatest Gift In The Bible, Edmonton Alberta, 57-0811A]
And the psalmist saying, "Thy love kindness if better than life." Then I begin to think, "What kind of a life was he speaking of that the love kindness of Father was better than life?" Then it come to my mind that there is a way that seemeth like it's life. It is a perverted life. Now, the devil cannot create nothing. God is the only Creator there is. And what is unrighteousness? Is righteousness perverted. Then we notice, that there's a perversion of righteousness makes unrighteousness. It's not original. Therefore, God had no beginning and He has no ending. And if we become a part of God, we can no more die than God can die, because we've got His life in us by the new birth. And we're just as eternal as God is eternal. We cannot perish. Jesus said, "He that heareth My words, believeth on Him that sent Me, hath Eternal Life, shall never come into the judgment; but is passed from death to Life." [Thirsting For Life, Indianapolis IN, 57-0613]
“People go and join the church, say, "Well, I'll put my name on the church book, and I'll..." The church is all right, but let me tell you friend, joining the church will never satisfy that holy, hungry thirst. That's the place that God comes in, and nothing else can fill it until you're filled with the Holy Ghost. Then the Holy Ghost comes into your heart. He is the everlasting fountain of God. He's the inexhaustible Fountain of Life. You just receive Him and drink from Him the rest of your life, in all ages. God made that place in here for Himself. You're thirsting, what for? For Him. He wants you to thirst. Thirst after Him.” [Thirsting For Life, LA CA, 59-0414]
“So joining church is not life. Singing hymns is not life. Preaching the Gospel's not life. Only one way you can have life: that's to know Him. You don't know, and have life by knowing the catechism of your church. You don't have life by knowing the Bible. You'll have life by knowing Christ in the free pardon of sin, is the only way that you can have life.” [Thirsting For Life, Tacoma WA, 57-0728]
And I thought, comparing the deer with a man that's thirsting for God, before the enemy gets there. There is something about a child of God, that when you once are born into the Spirit of God, receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, there is something about the person that can sense the enemy. You can take a man when he's taking the Scripture, and reading the Scripture and try to inject something to that Scripture, that's contrary to the Scripture, a man that's filled with the Holy Ghost can sense that, right quick. When he gets into a place, and--and that little certain sense in there, that it's done to protect your life. You, you mustn't, you mustn't never go for anything unless it's exactly the Word of God. You must stay right exactly with that Word. And, now, and we are secured with that sense as long as we are in the Holy Spirit.” [Thirst, TUCSON AZ, 65-0919]
Now we find, God gives the control tower to you, to give to you the things that you need. Now, the control tower in you is what directs you. And this thirst runs in on this tower, control tower, and tells you what you have need of, spiritually speaking. The control tower in the body, and in the soul, also. There is a control tower in the body, that tells you the need that's needed in your body, and it's brought to you by thirst. Also, there is a control tower in your soul, that tells you the spiritual things that you have need of, something in your spirit, and, and you by this can tell what kind of a life is controlling you. When you can see what your desires are, then you can tell, by that, what kind of something that's in you, that's creating this desire that you have. See, there is a certain thing that you thirst for, and it--and it can tell you in your soul what this desire is, by the nature of the thirst that you have. I hope that you can understand that. [Thirst, TUCSON AZ, 65-0919]
True predestinated believers will stay with the Word because they are part of that Word. Oh, wandering stars, how long will you wonder? You Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterian, outsiders, whatever you might be, wandering stars, from church to church, from pillar to place, and television to television, world to world, why don't you come on? He longs to have fellowship with you. He is longing for you. He wants to transform you by the renewing of your mind, not to the church or to the denomination, but to His Word, which, you are a part if that desire is in you. Blessed are they that do hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they shall be filled. And it's sent His transforming Power, to bring you out of this deformity of religion that you're in. [God's Power To Transform, Phoenix AZ, 65-0911]
You might speak with tongue like men and Angels, you might give all your goods to feed the poor, you might prophesy, and you might have knowledge, understand all the mysteries and all these things, and you still become nothing (I Corinthians 13) until that satisfying Something that can only quench that thirst. "My soul thirsts for the living God, like the hart panting for the water brook. Unless I can find It, I'll perish." When you get to hungering for God like that, something is going to take place. The Holy Spirit is to lead you to those great fountains of God. Yes, sir. [Thirst, TUCSON AZ, 65-0919]
O God, make me to know that I'm a frail person, that I don't know just what time these little fragile threads of life is going to break, and I'm going out into eternity. But let me be so, O God, that my soul is so thirsty for Thee, that I'll want no more drinking, no more smoking, no more lying, no more to do with sin. Let my affections be set on things above. Grant it to me, O God, as I raise my hand." Just confess it right now while you're setting there. Just confess. Say, "Lord, put that thirst in me." [Thirsting For Life, Indianapolis IN, 57-0613]
Our Bible Study Subject for April 2009: "Thirsting for The Living God"
We pray the God will put the thirst for the living WORD in your soul, for we know that you will not be satisfied, until the Person of Jesus Christ is manifested in you.
Remember us in your prayers, that He will bless our efforts as we continue seeking for ways to make the End Time Gospel of Jesus Christ more accessible to this dying world.
